Staying Fit Whilst Travelling

Staying in shape while travelling is probably one of the hardest things to do, especially if you’re welcomed with delicious food. Travelling should be all about fun and over-indulgence but you shouldn’t forget to prioritize your health. You don’t want to return 20 pounds heavier, do you?.


Here are some easy tips on how to stay in shape even when travelling.


  1. Begin With A Big Healthy Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It’s what charges your energy for the whole day and pumps up your metabolism. If you skip breakfast, you’ll end up overeating on unhealthy foods in the middle of the day.


Another good point is, many hotels include breakfast so why not take this chance to bulk up on it anyway. This is a very wise move if you’re a budget conscious like me.


  1. Take Yogurt At Least Once Daily

To make your stomach healthy after eating some native delicacies, have a yogurt at least once daily. This is something I always do at home and when I hit the road. Not only it is filling, yogurt is also helpful in regulating your digestive system and prevents diarrhea. It’s easy to find yogurt because it’s available in almost all countries.


  1. Purchase Groceries

Instead of eating on restaurants, why not buy your own groceries? It will help you save money and lets you monitor what you’re eating. You can buy oatmeal, tea, and eggs. Buy a kettle so you can make your own tea.


  1. Walk Instead Of Ride

What better way to stay fit than to walk while enjoying the beautiful scenery. Walking is one of the best ways to burn those calories. Personally, I love to walk on the beach and smell the fresh coastal air that you won’t get in the city.


While walking, you can also flex your abs and glutes. So if you think that your destination is near, walk and save your transportation fare.


  1. Look For A Park (If There’s No Gym)

If you follow a workout regimen, you can do it even while travelling. Find the nearest park and find adequate space to do your exercise routines like squats and push-ups. Look for something to hang to do your pull-ups. I’ve tried doing pull-ups on tree branches and they work.


  1. Go Trekking

Another way to lose that unwanted weight is go trekking. If you travel in a place with mountains, go trekking for 10 days. Surely, you’ll shed those pounds and will tone up fast. Plus, the sunrise view on top of the mountain is a good sight to behold.


  1. Take The Stairs

Climbing the stairs is another way to tone those leg muscles. If your room is located above the first floor, then choose the stairs over the elevator. It’s the hard part that makes this exercise very effective. Of course, this isn’t recommended if you’re in a rush to an appointment because you’ll surely get late and super exhausted.
